How We Serve

Gift of Rest
For families facing cancer, disability, and the daily weight of caregiving, exhaustion can be relentless. We know this personally — we have felt the bone-deep tiredness of hospital stays, endless appointments, and the emotional toll of fighting for inclusion and dignity. That’s why we created The Gift of Rest — to give families space to breathe again. Rest looks different for everyone — a quiet place to sit in peace, a night of uninterrupted sleep, an accessible day at the beach, or a shared meal full of laughter. Whatever it looks like, when families receive this gift, they feel seen. Their bodies begin to recover, their spirits lift, and hope takes root again. Through accessible spaces, personalized support, and a community that shows up, we make rest possible — so those carrying so much can begin to thrive again.

Legacy Home of Rest
The first fully accessible beach house in Virginia Beach — created for families facing disability or cancer and designed by those who live these challenges every day. Every detail tells a story: motorized lifts, accessible kitchens and bathrooms, seamless beach access, an adaptive pool and golf cart, and braille throughout the home — so every guest is welcomed with dignity. But this is more than a house. It is the Gift of Rest, made tangible. Families will experience personalized hospitality, concierge care, and the support of a community that shows up to surround them with love and presence. And because this is a legacy home, it will keep giving — available for rentals that help fund SEEN’s mission, allowing more families for years to come to find hope, renewal, and the reminder that they are SEEN. This is not just a house — it is where rest lives, hope grows, and the community writes a lasting legacy of “you are SEEN.”

Community
“If you have a chance to accomplish something that will make things better for people coming behind you, and you don’t do that, you are wasting your time on this earth.” — Roberto Clemente.
SEEN is a nonprofit built on the belief that community has the power to transform lives. We know this because we’ve lived it — we’ve felt the incredible strength of a community that shows up when life feels too heavy to carry alone. Our mission is to pass that forward — to create spaces where families can pause, breathe, and truly feel SEEN. We call it the Gift of Rest. It’s more than a break — it’s a reminder that they are not invisible, that they belong, and that others care enough to stand with them. When we come together as a community, we create more than moments — we create hope. Because when one of us shows up, we all shine a little brighter.
