THE AGOSTO FAMILY
TWELVE YEARS OF FINDING A WAY
Adaer is 12 years old, has Spina Bifida, and has already endured 18 surgeries. Through every hospital stay, expense, and new need, his family has stretched, sacrificed, improvised, and found a way.
Even the children help by making and selling handmade items from home to help cover the family’s needs.
The Agosto family lives in Puerto Rico and came to SEEN through a referral from the Spina Bifida Association. And right now, as families across the island continue navigating an unstable electrical system and repeated outages, the everyday work of caring for a child with complex medical needs can become even harder.
From the 757 to the 787, we are infinitely connected.....and this week, we get to show up for one another.
We are raising $7,000 to help provide an accessible ramp at their new home so Adaer can move with greater independence and his parents no longer have to carry him, along with a washer and dryer, bedding, daily bladder and bowel care supplies insurance does not cover, and transportation connected to his medical care.
These are not extras.....they are the everyday things that give Adaer greater dignity and independence and give his family room to breathe.
For twelve years, Carla has found a way.
This time, she does not have to find the way alone.
Let’s show up for the Agosto family.
"As a mother, for more than 12 years, my thought has always been the same whenever Adaer needs something: 'I will find a way.' ... But lately, I find myself looking at my son's needs and asking a question that breaks my heart as his mother: 'How am I going to pay for this now?'"
— Carla, Adaer's mother

YOUR GIFT HELPS MEET REAL, EVERYDAY NEEDS
CAMPAIGN GOAL: $7,000
1. Accessible Wheelchair Ramp
Helping Adaer enter and leave his new home safely, with greater independence and without needing to be carried by caretakers.
2. Washer + Dryer
An essential household need when daily bladder and bowel care creates frequent laundry.
3. Bedding + Linens
Extra sheets, mattress protection, towels, and other necessities needed for everyday care.
4. Transportation for Medical Care
Helping cover the ongoing cost of getting Adaer to appointments, treatments, and other medical needs.
5. Daily Care + Household Essentials
Helping cover necessary supplies, hygiene items, and everyday care essentials that Adaer needs but insurance does not cover. These are ongoing costs that quickly add up for a family caring for a child with complex medical needs.
SEEN is standing with the Agosto family. Our goal is $7,000 toward Adaer's most immediate needs, starting with that ramp.
