SEEN is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Virginia Beach, VA. Our mission is to give families facing cancer and disability the Gift of Rest. We believe that when people feel truly SEEN, they can find strength, hope, and healing.

SEEN was founded by Matt Hamrick and Cristina Pocta, two people who know firsthand what it means to carry the weight of cancer and disability. Matt lost his beloved wife to cancer, and Cristina and her husband are parents to two children with disabilities. Out of shared grief and caregiving, they found each other's families and decided to transform suffering into something that could serve others walking similar roads.

SEEN is rooted in the Hampton Roads / Virginia Beach community. Our current programs and resources are focused locally as we grow, though our mission and model have the potential to serve families anywhere. Our goal is to serve our community with excellence before expanding our reach.
